Get the inside scoop on Social Networking now!| Computer is not responding to my external harddrive | | Over 400GB of a combination of movies, tv shows, music, photos, and documents I have on my external hardrive. Today, all of a sudden my computer doesn't acknowledge that it is plugged in. I tried unplugging everything and plugging it back in, but nothing. Any suggestions to get this working again? If it is dead, is it possible to get the data off of it from tech people? | |
| | What is the best kind of external harddrive? | | Hi everyone, I am wanting to buy an external hard drive for my desktop because I have downloaded many programs, ect. and I have a pretty full hard drive. My thought is that maybe if I empty some of this stuff to another spot it will help my computer speed. If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions I would love to hear them. Thanks! | |
| | | | | Buying a new laptop. | | I want to buy a laptop, something that can utilise most things on the market used with PC's, such as, ipod, external harddrive, card reader, wireless, bluetooth, usb, webcam... What brands are best? and who has the best deals. I have dealt with Dell for my PC and am thinking of using them for a laptop too. What do others use and who has the best deals? I need big storage and large memory. | |
| | Oops! Erase what you saw, those were Daddy's other pictures! | | I occasionally keep my private, nudity images and videos on my computer's hard-drive. They are't illegal to have, but can slow down my processing papers to get me into heaven. I went to all the precautions I could think of to hide these files under names no one in the family would look at like " archive taxes 2001" or something, then I tucked those into other folders with names that are ridiculously uninteresting and then all of that behind a password protected profile. One evening I come into the computer room to find my young son about 12 years old at the time, perusing through my "do not touch" files that he thought he could quickly hide from me by clicking the close button on the window. Note to Parents: look at the "Recent Documents" list from the "start" menu or the "history" files on the internet Browser. After seeing how far he has gotten and the bewildered look on his face, I knew it was time to have THE TALK. After our friendly and enlightening conversation in which I learned a lot about from him about what bees did to birds, I felt I needed to ask him how did he find my secret stash. his reply was,"I was looking for a picture of you and mommy on the back-up... | |

| | Security | | Does anyone do some special thing to secure files on your computer. I know you can password protect any files you want with a few programs out there. I dont do it though.I also have a external harddrive, no password neeeded. How about laptops? For those who travel a lot? | |
| | Have you ever done something to your computer and realized that it was not wize | | Have you ever like added an external hard drive and then realized that you formatted it with the wrong file system FAT32 instead of NTFS and only realized what you had done after you had started using it. Or downloaded something iffy and then turned off your computer only to have it not come on again. I just moved all of the folders of of my external harddrive and then reformatted that hard drive properly, then I realized. You just changed the file paths for all of those folders. Well can't win em all. | |
