| Paperless filing have you tried it?? | | I treated myself to two new toys at Christmas:
1) new printer/scanner - so cheap and so good!
2) external USB backup hard-drive - really easy to use!
I now scan all my mail and destroy it. The scans are automatically backed up at 3am every day in a matter of seconds. Hence...the truly paperless office.
Have you tried this? any drawbacks? are you considering this? | |
| | External Wireless Network | | In Singapore, most shopping malls, airport and some fast food restaurants like McDonald are equipped with wireless network. So you can surf online for free in these places with your laptop. I think it's quite convenient for people nowadays who usually surf the Internet. I was wondering if any other places also providing such services and where are they located? | |

| How to judge a person correctly – by external characteristics or by other way? | | Most of the time we judge persons from their looks, attitudes or by family. But I don’t think that should be done, Because in my opinion, a person should be judge by his works, ideology and moral values. By this way we can be able to aware of a person’s mentality and it’s implementations in real life. And not only that we should always have to get a close view of the person. Otherwise we would never know if a person is hypocrite or not. So we must take sometime to study the person before we reach any conclusion. How do you judge a person? Share your idea and experience about this. Thanks in advance for your response. | |

| | Rural legends (an external dpt of Urban legends Ltd): Death's boots. | | In Audubon's "Notes on rattlesnake" published in Edinburgh in 1827 -- thanks to Google Books --, I find a "true" story that I heard here two or three times. The serial killer is not the same: the rattlesnake is a very dangerous American snake; the European one, the red viper (Vipera aspis), is not so venomous, and is rarely able to kill an adult man.Audubon speaks of a farmer in Pennsylvania bitten through a boot by a rattlesnake. He hadn't seen nor heard the snake, felt sick at home, and died in a few hours. One year later his elder son took his father's boots to go to church; returned at home he felt scratched on the leg whilst drawing the boots, and died the day after. His effects were sold two years later and a second brother bought the boots. He tried them, felt a scratch when drawing them, suffered and died.As I said, I heard here quite the same story with an other snake involved, a red viper (They are not red, but brown orange. There is many rural legends about these reptiles), killing also three persons of the same family through a shoe, and I think that these "true" stories are probably rural legends. There is another one in Audubon's Notes when he speaks of... | |
