Get the inside scoop on Social Networking now!| I can build computers! | | Hey everybody! I can build computers! Why does everybody around me think it's something special? It's very easy to do! I'm 100% confident that I could teach somebody how to do it in 10 minutes or less.
| | | What is it that you think that you can do better than anyone else in this world? | | Hey friends, we all are gifted with something. Some of us can sew our tails off. Others can sing, dance, build computers, houses. Tear down houses. You name it and somebody can do it. So what I would like to know is what do you think that you can do better than everyone else in the world if you really had to make a choice about it right now, what would it be? I am anxious to hear from you[em]lol[/em]! | |
| | How hard do you think computer hardware is? | | I myself build computers for people and upgrade my own, but I am trying to see how others see there system hardware wise. Nothing can be put in the wrong slot or plugged into the wrong spot aside from maybe the case jumpers, which do no harm. trial and error. But what do you see when you open up your case that make it seem difficult? Or is it just fear of breaking it in general? | |
| | Update on my craptacular day. | | Well everyone knows about my crappy day that the one good point was that I got my computer stuff. So I start rebuilding my computer, I notice that the motherboard only has one IDE controller, not two, need one for the cd rom, cd burner, and my two hard drives. Ive never seen a motherboard with only one, talked to a couple of my friends that build computers, they have never seen a motherboard with only one. So yay, I can send the motherboard back, and get another one, which the cheapest one my friend could find was 140 dollars. So instead I can get a PCI IDE card, plus my cd roms into that and hard drives into the one on the board, ok thats about 14 dollars or so. So I still need a new monitor, and now something else for my farking computer. Now to my damn car. I called them around 5:30 they said they were just getting to my car, ok cool, they were very busy when I was there. Its the fuel pump, it blew some fuses when it went out, the fuel filter needs to be replaced, camsink, and the fuel pump relay. Its going to cost 1200 fuucking dollars. Yay me. I already called titlemax and talked to them, was down to about 300 to get it paid off, they said I could refinance it and take... | |
| | Are brands important to you? Which ones? | | Do you have any particular brand of computer that you trust and only buy? I build computers myself, but I do have trusted brands for computer components that I use.I swear by Seagate and Western Digital Hard Drives. I have complete confidence in Antec Cases, Power Supplies and Fans. Perhaps you prefer Intel or AMD? Maybe you make sure to buy RAM made by the same company every time? What's your brand? | |
| | Computer Hardware - Know about which motherboard to choose... | | As a PC Technician I build computers for a living. And when it comes to building a good system I have to make sure I buy a proper good working motherboard. The motherboard is the body of your computer. The processor is the brain working with the memory RAM. Then more parts are
added on there like the Power Supply which gives life to your machine - without it is like a dead person. The video card of course that gives graphics and display and then your sound card to give sound to hear, your hard drive which stores Windows and all your files, your CD/DVD/Burner
Drive to use for listening to music, watching movies or burning files to CD/DVD. So the motherboard does a lot of work when you turn on your computer. The motherboard has what is called Front Side Bus (FSB) the faster the FSB the better the motherboard transfers signals binary codes 0 and 1 to your hardware parts - mainly all the computer hardware parts that connect to your motherboard.
Now a good brand motherboard is very picky and sometimes hard to find. Even from techs who mention which motheboards are good or bad - even the best motherboards tend to fail. Why because for one you...
| | Pre-build or self-build... | | Well, due to my encounters of brochures of pre-build computers while checking out new hardwares at computer shop, I found out that majority of people in my country(Malaysia), are whining about how good pre-build computers are. I personally think that pre-build sucks. I prefer building myself a computer than overrated and advertised computer. Mainly because not majority of pre-built computers here in my country are made for gaming. What do you think??? Pre-build or self-build... As far I can see pre-built like Alienware and Voodoo in the America have something a gamer like me want. | |
| | I'm Back!! With my first ever NEW computer.. | | Hello All,Just had to share my excitement with you all. I have a NEW computer. It's the first time in my life that I have had a brand spanking new computer. I'm sooo impressed. I built it myself. It's pretty ironic that it's the first time I've ever had a new computer really, since I used to build computers for a living. I've always been given them or bought second hand ones due to limited resources. It's also the first time I've bought a computer for myself. All I had were a few windows teething problems. Or rather a blue screen of death when I started it up but all I had to do was repair windows because of course windows had lost most of the hardware it was used to working with. Anyway, I'm back and not so impatient anymore:) I had a slow Pentium 2 before which was totally maxed out with all the things I expected it to do. Now I have a Dual-Core AMD Athlon X2. I'm still on dial-up internet of course so waiting for the net is slow but at least when I try to open a program I don't have to wait 5 mins for it.Cyas, Tanika. | |
| | Dodgey Internet Service Provider | | Boy I didn't think it was possible in today's times to have as many confrontations and as much "hoodwinking" occur!!!
I should have realised even before I signed up with XXXX (if anyone in Australia wishes to know the name, just message me and I will message it back to you) that something was amiss!!! I rang them several times before sighing up and the return phone calls that were supposed to happen,.... waiting ...waiting...ah well I'll ring them again then! Finally connected .... bad phone line connections made things very difficult to understand as the phone had a delay factor and we seemed to be talking over each other all the time, and they are also a phone and mobile phone provider!!! So ..signing up for a house phone (2 year contract), 2 mobile phones (prepaid) and ADSL broadband (2 year) contract... I thought I might be eligable to recieve some service.. ROFL...LOLTIC...
My phone line was connected to the house from a previous connection which was cancelled when I went to true wireless broadband so the exchange only had to be authorised and a new number allocted.. two weeks for that!! SOOO... tried to connect the broadband.. lol... no connection... three weeks of...
